Zoo Vienna
Historically the oldest zoo in the world (founded 1752), Schönbrunn, in the last centuries, has become one of the most modern and – as many animal lovers would agree – most beautiful zoos in the world.
Today it is “home” to many endangered species and animals from all over the planet. Scientific, zoological research and permanent improvements in building habitats that cater to the needs and nature of our “animal guests” represent the central challenge of our daily work.
Successful species protection programs – such as the breeding of Siberian tigers and the creation of survival areas for the Giant pandas from China, the koalas or the greater Indian rhinos are among the “new assignments” a modern zoo has to carry out these days.
