“Imperial Austria” is the trademark of the Association, founded in 2008, whose function is to create a virtual network between as many Austrian institutions and establishments as possible that constitute a high-quality representation of the history of the Imperial House and its achievements. It is the declared objective of the Association to communicate the history of Imperial Austria, in particular of the Habsburg Monarchy, in a contemporary, including digitised form and making use of the available technical and presentation possibilities.

The founding members are Schloß Schönbrunn Kultur- und Betriebsges.m.b.H., which operates Schönbrunn Palace, the Vienna Hofburg • Imperial Appartements – Sisi Museum – Silver Collection and the Imperial Furniture Collection, Schönbrunner Tiergarten Ges.m.b.H., which operates the oldest zoo in the world, and Marchfeldschlösser Revitalisierungs- und Betriebsges.m.b.H. with the baroque adventure world at Imperial Festival Palace Hof. All the members act as custodians of a rich and varied historical heritage which has its roots deep in an imperial epoch in Austria spanning almost seven centuries. Preserving and caring for this legacy and providing access for interested visitors is a cultural mission to which the participating institutions are committed.
